Built by the London County Council (LCC) and opened in 1900, Red Cross Street fire station was one of four (plus a river station at Blackfriars) contained within the City of London. Seen here is the stations pump escape and crew on the forecourt. The station would eventually close in 1964 and be replaced by the new Barbican fire station
