HMS Poseidon and the submarine escape apparatus. Poseidon was sunk on 9th June 1931 after colliding with the Chinese merchant steamer SS Yuta. The Davis Submarine (or Submerged) Escape Apparatus was on board, by means of which six men saved themselves. The diagrams show how the apparatus is used. Date: 1931
