Recruiting poster for the 7th Regiment of Light Dragoons

Recruiting poster for the 7th (or The Queen?s Own) Regiment of (Light Dragoons), 1809.The 7th (or The Queen?s Own) Regiment of (Light Dragoons) had served in Sir John Moore?s Spanish campaign of 1808-1809. His army was forced to retreat and was evacuated by sea from Corunna in Jan 1809. The regiment suffered heavy casualties in the campaign and 70 more men were lost when the troopship taking them home was shipwrecked off the Cornish coast. On its return to England the regiment began recruiting to replace the losses. Date: 1809

The Surrender of Jamestown

The Governor of Jamestown and the Jamestown Council stand before the ministers of the Commonwealth, holding a treaty that acknowledges the new English parliament and agrees both its cessation of Stuart support and status as a royal colony. Berkley, the governor at Jamestown harbour stands with his council, holding the treaty , with Commonwealth soldiers at attention in the background, as the ministers stand in front of him having forced a surrender with an embargo and blockade on the port. Schutte-Lanz S.L.1 rigid airship

Schutte-Lanz SL.1 rigid airship, designed and Built by the Schutte-Lanz company, set-up by Johann Schutte and Karl Lanz. The SL.1 was Built largely from wood with a geodesic framework, similar to the construction method developed by Barnes-Wallis in the 1930s. First flown on 17 October 1911 the SL.1 had a few accidents and was modified to improve stability, amongst other problems. The SL.1 was finally withdrawn from use after a forced landing on 17 July 1913, during the return flight to Berlin, from Konigsberg Date: circa 1910
