Messerschmitt Bf 109E Black 12
Messerschmitt Bf 109E-3-B (werknummer 4101) Black 12 of the RAF St. Athan RAF Museum Reserve Collection outside the Museum on RAF St. Athan East Camp. built by Erla Maschinenwerk at Liepzig, Black 12 was operated by 2-JG51 from Wissant, near Calais, at the time it was forced to make a wheels-up landing at RAF Manston, on 27 November 1940. After repairs at RAE Farnborough she was allocated the military serial DG200 and issued to Rolls-Royce at Hucknall for testing. Surviving the war she was displayed in various places before being fully restored at the RAF St. Athan collection. After the closure of the St. Athan collection she was moved the the RAF Museum at Hendon. Date: circa 1980
