Entrance driveway of the Poplar Schools which were established in 1906 between Shenfield and Hutton, near Brentwood, Essex, to house pauper children away from the workhouse. As well as cottage homes, each housing 30 children, the site had its own schools, infirmary, chapel, swimming pool etc. Date: circa 1921
