The site was formerly St Olave's Union workhouse, designed by Newman & Newman, opened in 1900 to house the aged and infirm. During the First World War, it became Bermondsey Military Hospital and was later known as Bermondsey Institution

The administrative offices of Camberwell St Giles Hospital, formerly part of the Camberwell workhouse on Havil Street, now St Giles Road, south east London. The offices themselves fronted onto Brunswick Road (now Brunswick Villas). The first workhouse buildings on the site dated from 1818, but from the 1870s its medical facilities greatly expanded. It later became St Giles Hospital

The South Eastern Fever Hospital was opened in 1877 on Avonley Road at New Cross, near Deptford in south east London. It was the fifth such hospital to be erected by the Metropolitan Asylums Board which in 1869 became responsible for certain classes of the sick poor in metropolitan London. The site later became New Cross General Hospital, then New Cross Hospital
