Dragoons and Highlanders scattering the Rioters in Belfast. Accordingly, the 4th Dragoon Guards and the 78th Highlanders, accompanied by the Royal Antrim Rifles were marched to Durham Street, the boundary line between the Catholic and Protestant districts. After a small skirmish without either side being able to claim any advantage, the most desperate battle took place, in a brickfield which ran along one side of Dover Street, the belligerents assembled to the number of several thousands, throwing stones and pistols were shot.
