This illustration was drawn by Captain Bryan de Grineau, the Illustrated London New's artist, from a description given to him by an eye-witness, Mr. Tom Treanor of the Los Angeles Times'. Date: 1944

The Great Battle on the Western Front: open warfare - an action at Bucquoy, a village on the Arras-Albert road. In the distance are the ruins of Ablainzeville. British infantry in the foreground. British artillery officer in the right foreground behind a rampart of ammunition boxes, giving orders to the signaller to transmit to the battery behind.
