Liverpool General transport Strike 1911

Most of the summer of 1911, dockers, railway workers and sailors, as well as people from other trades went on strike, paralysing Liverpool's commerce. Transforming trade unionism and Merseyside. For the first time trade unions establish themselves, becoming mass organisations of the working class. Photographs showing men been arrested, street scenes in Liverpool where mounted police are trying to keep crowded protesters at bay and finally thousands of strickers around St George's Hall.

Debris following Llanelli railway strike riots, Wales

Newspapers strewn over the railway lines, with a train in the background wrecked by rioters during the railway strike, during which nine people were killed. What started out as a peaceful strike by railway workers in Llanelli turned within two days into violence, destruction and deaths after a bayonet charge and the shooting of two unarmed men by the army.
