Erzurum (Armenian - Karin), is a city in eastern Anatolia, Turkey. The name " Erzurum" derives from " Arz-u Rm" (literally The Land of the Romans i n Persian). Largest province in Turkeys Eastern Region. Has belonged to Ancient Armenia, Persia, the Romans, the Seljuc Turks and the Ottomans. In Byzantine times it was known as Theodosiopolis. This card shows the population of Erzurum in temporary accomodation/tents in the streets of the city following an Earthquake in 1901
