Westland Lynx 800 ZB500 (msn 102, ex G-LYNX, ex ZA500'), at the Royal International Air Tattoo - RAF Fairford 18 July 2003. The fastest helicopter world record holder, the fastest pure helicopter since 1986. In the evening of 11th August 1986, G-LYNX flew a 15 km course across the Somerset Levels. The aircraft achieved an average speed of 400.87 km/h (249.10 mph), which made it the world??s fastest helicopter. Date: 2003
