A cartoon by Steven Spurrier, showing an episode in the life of actor and singer Charles Bannister (1738-1804). Returning to London from Epsom, and lacking the money to cover the toll at Kensington Gate, he gave an impromptu singing performance in lieu of payment. Date: circa 1930s
