Looking a Gift Horse in the Mouth by David Wright
Looking a Gift Horse in the Mouth by David Wright, showing a woman in a glamorous dressing gown holding a stocking in her hands; a reference to the lack of silk of nylon stocking during war rationing. Wright produced a series of over 160 illustrations or pin-ups for The Sketch during the 1940 s. David Wrights Lovelies proved hugely popular and adorned practically every military mess, bunker, dormitory or club room in the country during World War II
