Advertisement for Aristoc stockings in 1944 showing a woman in WRNS uniform inspecting a pair. The adverts copy promises that once victory has been achieved, a plentiful supply of lovely, clinging Aristoc will be available. For the time being though, women will have to make do with the best possible wartime stockings - Aristoc Utility and a limited supply of Raystoc and Aristile brands. Rayon was used for the majority of wartime stockings, with silk and nylon both hugely limited. Date: 1944
