Rumpler D I German fighter biplane
Rumpler D I German fighter biplane (serial no. 1589/18) which came too late to take part in the First World War. It was apparently difficult to build, which delayed production following trials in mid-1918. The two men seen here at an Aldershof flight trial are the German pilot Ernst Udet (left) and the planes Austrian designer, Edmund Rumpler (right). Date: 1918
