Royal Wedding 1934 - the scene in Parliament Square
A part of London rich in historic associations and the scene of so much past pageantry, Parliament Square in the immediate neighbourhood of Westminster Abbey, presented a most brilliant spectacle of all on the processional route for the wedding of Prince George, Duke of Kent to Princess Marina of Greece on 29 November 1934. Gaily decked stands with privileged spectators, pavements thronged with expectant crowds and multicoloured decorations all helped to create an atmosphere fitting to the occasion. Scene shows the moment the bridal carriage and its escort passed slowly by. Date: 1934
