Photograph of Indian troops lined up to receive inoculations
Photograph of Indian troops lined up to receive inoculations, 1916 (c). The high temperatures in Mesopotamia, alongside poor medical facilities, flies, mosquitoes and vermin led to appalling levels of sickness and death through disease. Despite the best efforts of medical staff thousands of soldiers died, especially in the early part of the campaign. From a photograph album of 59 photographs, 1916 (c). Related to 80th Carnatic Infantry. Associated with World War One, Mesopotamia (1914-1918). Date: circa 1916
