Canterbury Union Workhouse proposal 1846
An isometrical view of the proposed Workhouse to be built at Canterbury, Kent. The design was presented by Henry Parker, a former Assistant Poor Law Commissioner, at a meeting in November 1846, as an example that Workhouses need not be prison-like in their design. The workhouse subsequently built at Canterbury was similar to this proposal, though not exactly the same. Date: 1846
