British soldiers march forward in regiment, attacking the city of Louisbourg in Ile-Royal during the War of Austrian Succession. French reinforcements had been prevented from arriving, and so after over 6 weeks of siege and bombardment, on 28th June 1740 the French capitulated. Date: 1740
