Cleopatras Needle or Settling the Point, by H Hunter
Promotional music sheet for Cleopatras Needle or Settling the Point, music hall song by Harry Hunter and W Redmond. The Egyptian obelisk, dates from 1468 BC and was given to the British nation in 1819. The song, written for the Mohawk Minstrels by W. Redmond and Harry Hunter, reflects its belated arrival in 1877 and the fact that there was still discussion about where to put it. The artist, Alfred Concanen, alludes to this in the artwork. Date: circa 1877
