Capt. Faulknor Storming Fort Royal, Martinique
Captain Faulknor in the ship Zebra, storming Fort Royal in Martinique in 1794, during the French Revolutionary Wars. Faulknor uses his sword to point up a set of wooden stairs, indicating his men to follow. Sailors with spears stand behind him, and more arrive on a small rowboat. This was part of a British invasion of French claimed Martinique that was successful, in the War of the First Coalition, despite a French victory overall. Date: 1794
