A newly built NFS (London Region) fire station, WW2
Located in District 37 and prefixed J1X, this fire station was built in Hayes, Bromley, Kent. During the longer lulls in enemy action following the Blitz many firemen and firewomen were engaged in various industrial production and construction works, including the repair, rebuilding and, in this case, the construction of fire stations. In this way personnel were kept busily occupied and satisfied in the knowledge that they were contributing to the war effort
