Captain Hans Langsdorff of the Admiral Graf Spee
Captain Hans Wilhelm Langsdorff (1894 - 1939), German naval officer and commander of the Admiral Graf Spee pocket-battleship which was scuttled after the Battle of River Plate near Montevideo in Uruguay. Langsdorff shot himself shortly afterwards on 19th December 1939. This is one of the last photographs taken of him. Date: December 1939
