Hackney Union School, Brentwood, Essex
The Hackney Union School at Brentwood. In 1885 Hackney took over what had been the Brentwood District School, originally set up by the Shoreditch Board of Guardians in 1854 to house pauper children away from the workhouse. From about 1917, the site was used by the Metropolitan Asylums Board to house sane epileptics. It later became known as St Faiths Hospital
