Inside the Dome of Discovery, Festival of Britain, London
General view inside the Dome of Discovery, part of the Festival of Britain site on the South Bank, London. This part of the exhibition covered Britain's conquest of the physical world through exploration and science. At the time this huge aluminium dome was the largest in the world, with a diameter of 365 feet. It contained several stairs and an escalator, a large telescope, a totem pole, and a model of the stern of Captain Cook's ship, the Endeavour.

1916 British Army issue telescope with broad arrow, manufactured by T. T. & H. Limited, No. 11801. TEL SIG (Mk.IV), ALSO G.S., together with low and high lenses, in leather case. Measurement - 11.5 closed and 36 open. Together with a 1916 telescope stand manufactured by Laing Wharton Limited, London - No. 3072. Length - 36.5'. Both items are in excellent condition.
