Inside the Dome of Discovery, Festival of Britain, London
General view inside the Dome of Discovery, part of the Festival of Britain site on the South Bank, London. This part of the exhibition covered Britains conquest of the physical world through exploration and science. At the time this huge aluminium dome was the largest in the world, with a diameter of 365 feet. It contained several stairs and an escalator, a large telescope, a totem pole, and a model of the stern of Captain Cooks ship, the Endeavour.
