Portrait of the artist, Jean Berne-Bellecour in French army uniform, by Lucien Jonas. Lucien Hector Jonas (1880-1947). In February Of 1915, Jonas Was Offically Accredited As 'Military Painter To The Mus饠De L'Arm饧 In Paris. During The War He Travelled Extensively Along All Sections Of The Front Lines And Produced Thousands Of Drawings, Oil Paintings, Charcoals, Sketches And Illustrations Of All Kinds. Jonas Was Also Well-Known For His Portraits Of Military Leaders And Soldiers In Various National Uniforms.

Syracuse, Italy - The Greek Theatre

Syracuse, Italy (Siracusa) - The Greek Theatre with the cty in the distance. The cavea (seating area) is one of the largest ever built by the ancient Greeks: it has 67 rows, divided into nine sections with eight aisles. Only traces of the scene and the orchestra remain. The edifice (still used today) was modified by the Romans, who adapted it to their different style of spectacles, including also circus games. Date: circa 1905
