Lithographic Plate of Arms
A lithographic plate produced by Day and Sons, showing the arms of the Archiepiscopal See of York, together with those of the Episcopal See of Manchester, which occupy the first of the two centre compartments in the design. The arms of the city of Manchester and the borough of Salford make up the secondary compartments, while the Royal arms of England are above them. The lower sections feature the arms of the Duchy of Lancaster. This design manages to blend together emblems of the church, the state and civic authorities. Date: circa 1855
