LCC-LFB Vehicle and equipment workshops complex

The Headquarters complex at Lambeth SE1 had extensive vehicle and equipment workshops. Maintenance, repair and restoration work could be undertaken by highly skilled mechanics and craftsmen. Ladders were built at the workshops, and hose and ropes cut and adapted to meet the Brigade's needs. Seen here is the vehicle repair workshop with appliances in varying stages of repair and maintenance

St Pauls constractor, by William Heath Robinson Featured Print

St Pauls constractor, by William Heath Robinson

In 1913 the major architectural journals were reporting about the possibility that the dome of St Pauls could collapse due to subsidence and the weakness of the supporting piers. The dome was leaning to the south-west and was becoming noticeable. Illustration by William Heath Robinson showing builders propping up and repairing St Paul's Cathedral.
