Survivors from the disabled German armoured cruiser SMS Blucher being picked up from the sea by British destroyers during the Battle of Dogger Bank, in the North Sea, First World War. The rescue had to be called off due to aerial bombardment, and many lives were lost. Date: 24 January 1915
