Peter the Great, Equestrian Statue, St Petersburg
View of the equestrian statue to Peter the Great (1672 - 1725) in St Petersburg, Russia. Known as the Bronze Horseman, it was installed in 1782. The pedestal is an enormous boulder known as the Thunder Stone, which was moved into position by 400 men over the space of nine months. Part of the Admiralty building can be seen on the right. Date: circa 1904
