Toshusai Sharaku
Toshusai Sharaku image. He was a Japanese ukiyo-e print designer, known for his portraits of kabuki actors. Neither his true name nor the dates of his birth or death are known. This print was executed in spring 1794 at a presentation of a play entitled The Countryman from Nihonmatsu. The actor Otani Oniji III, as Ukio Tohai. The actor Ichikawa Omezo as the Samurai Tomita Hyotaro is kneeling. Date: 1794
