Framed Photos from Mary Evans Picture Library
Women farm workers loading a cart, May 1918
Two female farm workers as they load a cart with " roots for cattle", possibly swedes. The Sphere gives an extremely complimentary report of female work on farms describing how " there is no branch of farm work in which women have not proved themselves to be efficient". It also gives an overview of various tasks they would be expected to undertake in a day and commenting on their ability to better handle young animals than men. Date: 1918
