Sad scenes at Rainbow Corner, the American Red Cross Club in Shaftesbury Avenue, which was the main base for US servicemen in London during the Second World War. The front door key was purposefully thrown away when it opened in 1942 so the club could truly claim that, " the door never closes." Sketch shows the once-popular games room, or Penny Arcade where men could buy tickets to theatre and other entertainment, as well as play pool or on pinball machines. Date: 1946
