A Devotee of " The Doctrine." - A satirical cartoon from Punch Magazine. A Mexican man wearing a small sombrero and two bandoliers across his chest and waist, holds a smoking gun as he places a wreath labelled Grateful Homage from General Villa at the foot of a statue bearing the inscription To the memory of President James Monroe, Doctrinaire. 1758-1831. No European Intervention. This is a comment on General Huerta receiving arms from Germany during the Mexican Revolution. Date: 1914
