The Welsh composer, singer and actor, David Ivor Davies (1893-1951), better known as Ivor Novello, pictured with his mother, Madame Novello Davies, the well-known teacher of singing and voice production in 1917 at a time when he was serving in the army but making a name for himself as a composer, particularly for his songs in Arlette playing at the Shaftesbury Theatre at the time.
