Coronation bonfire at Whitehaven, 1902
A superbly constructed bonfire at Whitehaven, 120 feet in height and 155 feet in circumference, containing 600 tons of timber and brushwood, 2000 gallons of petrol and with an air shaft specially constructed in the middle. It was built in celebration of the coronation of King Edward VII. Unfortunately, the king fell ill just two days before his coronation but it was lit anyway. Date: 1902
