The Queens Crown

The crown made for Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, on the coronation of King George VI when she was Queen Consort. The crown was made by Messrs. Garrard, and mounted in platinum. The foundation is a circlet used by Queen Victoria for court functions, and the Koh-i-Noor diamond is set in the front cross-pate springing from it. A drop-brilliant from the Treasury of Lahore, presented to Queen Victoria by the East India Company, is set in the top cross-pate

A Madame Yevonde portrait of Lady Elizabeth Paget

Lady Elizabeth Paget, daughter of the Marquess of Anglesey, was one of the train-bearers to Queen Elizabeth at the coronation of George VI. Madame Yevonde was a prolific and ground-breaking society portrait and commercial photographer active between 1915 and 1975. She is particularly well-known for her astonishingly modern work using the Vivex colour process during the 1930's. Her images of society folk and other personalities appeared regularly in The Sketch or The Tatler through the 1920's and 30's. Date: 19th May 1937, p310

Imperial State Crown, symbolises the sovereignty of the monarch, there have been several versions since the 15th century, similar to that of St Edward's Crown, but shorter and encrusted with jewels, precious gems, diamonds, pearls, sapphires, emeralds and rubies.
