Baroness Orczy in garden of her Riviera villa
Baroness Orczy (1865-1947), playwright, novelist and creator of the Scarlet Pimpernel. She began writing in 1900, and her world-famous " The Scarlet Pimpernel" was published in 1905. Her works include 54 historical romances. She was married to Mr. Montague Barstow, who died in 1943. Pictured posing by a pergola in the garden of her French Riviera home, Villa Bijou, where she did a lot of entertaining. Date: 1921
