Baroness Orczy (1865--1947) playwright, novelist and creator of the Scarlet Pimpernel. She began writing in 1900, and her world-famous " The Scarlet Pimpernel" was published in 1905. Her works include 54 historical romances. She was married to Mr. Montague Barstow, who died in 1943. Pictured here in the garden of her home, Villa Bijou, on the French Riviera dictating her latest work to her secretary. The Baroness was a popular hostess and held many parties and soirees for her assorted guests at the villa. Date: 1925
