Firefighters operating a Dennis breakdown lorry (commissioned at HQ on 3 April 1936), demonstrating the wrong method of lifting and towing the front axle. The front axle is not slung, which means that about 8 inches are lost on the lift, due to the axle being suspended by the top leaves of the springs. This is unsafe as well as unsatisfactory, causing loss of time and possible damage. The proper procedure is to pass the chain under and over either end of the axle, then place a teak board across and under the front springs so that no damage can be done to the radiator and other parts. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass).
