Decomposing whale carcass
The decomposing body of a Sei whale, washed ashore on the beach at Suez on 3 January 1950 following a storm. Initially, there was speculation that this was a mysterious sea creature, with large protruding tusks. More careful examination revealed that the tusks were the lower jawbones, revealed by decomposition. Date: January 1950
