The Catch of the Season by Seymour Hicks and Cosmo Hamilton
The Catch of the Season by Seymour Hicks and Cosmo Hamilton; music by Herbert Haines and Evelyn Baker. First produced at the Vaudeville Theatre on 9th September 1904. The Duke has dropped his coronet as he runs away whilst being chased by a group of ladies. He was the Prince Charming figure in a modernised version of the Cinderella story. The story concerns Lady Caterhams stepdaughter Angela, who is a debutante about to come out and is the catch of the season. She becomes engaged to the young rake, Lord St. Jermyns, although she really loves the page, Bucket. Honoria Bedford, Lady Crystals younger daughter, who is about to come out, has taken up smoking, which in 1904 was considered very shocking. It was performed by Mr George Dances Co. Date: 1904
