Cartoon, The Church and Stage Guild

Cartoon, The Church and Stage Guild -- Playful Kittens! The Church and Stage Guild was formed in May 1879, with a view to breaking down prejudice against the theatre and its performers. By the time of this cartoon, it had nearly 500 members from the clergy and the theatrical world. The clergyman at the centre is Stewart Headlam (1847-1924), founder of the Guild.
