On the left is Roger Bushell, captain of the British team in the Anglo-Swiss Universities race, and to the right, fellow team member Bill Clyde. Following a legal career, Roger Bushell joined the RAF and was captured in France, having crash landed his Spitfire. He would later be the mastermind behind the Great Escape from Stalag Luft III at Sagan. Captured at Saarbrucken train station he was murdered by the Gestapo, contravening the Geneva Protocol.
