Skull and Crossbones - Inverted

The Jolly Roger is the name given to any of various flags flown to identify a ship's crew as pirates. The flag most usually identified as the Jolly Roger today is the skull and crossbones, being a flag consisting of a skull above two long bones set in an x-mark arrangement. This design was used by four pirates, captains Edward England, John Taylor, Sam Bellamy and John Martel.Despite its appearance in popular culture, plain black flags were often employed by most pirates in the 17th-18th century. Historically, the flag was flown to frighten pirates victims into surrendering without a fight, since it conveyed the message that the attackers were outlaws who would not consider themselves bound by the usual rules of engagement and might, therefore, slaughter those they defeated

Where The Rainbow Ends by John Ramsay and Clifford Mills - The Lake at the End of

Where The Rainbow Ends by John Ramsay and Clifford Mills - The Lake at the End of the Wood. First produced at the Savoy Theatre, 21 December 1911, Holborn Empire revival by Italia Conti, produced by Charles Gulliver, 1919, with music by Roger Quilter. A fantasy story following the journey of two girls, two boys and a pet lion cub in search of their parents. Travelling on a magic carpet they face various dangers on their way to rescue their parents and are guarded and helped by St George. The rainbow story is a symbol of hope with its magic carpet of faith and its noble hero St George of England in shining armour ready, as in olden times, to fight and conquer the dragon of evil. Most of the story is set in 'Rainbow Land' complete with talking animals, mythical creatures and a white witch. Date: 1919
