The Big Orme by H. L. Oakley
Humorous silhouette contributed by Capt. Oakley of the Pier for a tourist pamphlet advertising the delights of Llandudno. Harry Lawrence Oakley (1882-1960), was a silhouette artist, whose silhouettes were in demand for posters, magazines illustrations and advertising but also cut thousands of portraits during his lifetime. He set up studios around the country, at seaside resorts and in department stores, but Llandudno was a particular favourite of his and he returned for the summer season regularly. The cartoon shows a young boy mistaking a large and eccentric looking artist for Llandudnos natural tourist attraction, the Big Orme! Date: Unknown
