Framed Print of Bellanca YO-50
United States Army Air Corps - Bellanca YO-50 40-741 (Bellanca 49-42). The Bellanca Aircraft Corporation at New Castle, Delaware, was one of over 11 competitors that responded to a 1938 USAAC design competition for a two-seat short-range light Army Co-operation aircraft. Stinson's Model 74, Bellanca's Model 49-42, and Ryan's Model were awarded a contract for each three trial aircraft, designated YO-49, YO-50 and YO-51 respectively. After evaluations the Stinson model went into series production. The experimental YO-50 was a high-wing braced monoplane with fixed tail wheel landing gear and extensive cabin glazing. Fitted with full-span leading edge slots and slotted flaps, and powered by a 420 hp Ranger SGV-770B-3 twelve-cylinder air-cooled inverted V-engine, the YO-50 had STOL performance. Three YO-50s were produced given serial numbers 40-741 to 40-743. First flown in 1940, the USAAC took delivery of the first aircraft on 1 June 1941. Date: 1940. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
