WW1 - Palestine - Destruction of Nebi Samuel Mosque by Turks
WW1 - Palestine - Destruction of Nebi Samuel Mosque (An-Nabi Samwil also al-Nabi Samuil - The Tomb of Samuel) by Turks in 1917 - this act of sacrilege allegedly cost the lives of many Muslims sheltering within the walls of the Mosque, however the whole tale does have more than a whiff of wartime propaganda about it - the likely truth is that the damage was caused by artillery fire from both sides during the battle between the British and the Turks. Date: 1917
