Studio photograph of a British soldier in khaki uniform. Printed by The Clock Tower Studios, 1 Marine Terrace, Elephant Hill, Margate. On the reverse is written Feb 8th 1915. To Madam From 10608 Pte. A. Anderson, 5th Royal Berks. Private Alexander Anderson was a patient at Quex Park between 14th January and 25th February 1915. He was suffering from influenza. Private Anderson died of wounds on 25 September 1915. He has no known grave and is remembered on the Ploegsteert Memorial in Belgium.The Quex Park VAD Hospital opened on 15 October 1914 and closed on 31 January 1919. The hospital was run by Kent/178, the Birchington Detachment. The Commandant was Hannah Powell-Cotton (1881-1964), wife of Major Percy HG Powell-Cotton (1866-1940) of Quex Park, founder of the Powell-Cotton Museum. Date: 1915
